HIBT Housing

HIBT is able to offer places in accommodation, both on and off campus. The on campus accommodation is in halls of residence at the main College Lane Campus of the University of Hertfordshire, where HIBT is located. The off campus accommodation is in modern five bedroom, three story town houses, located next to the University of Hertfordshire's new de Havilland campus and the Galleria shopping centre and is managed and looked after by an outsourced company. The main campus is only a five minute bus ride away on the University's free shuttle bus.

On-Campus Accommodation (single rooms in University Halls of Residence)

This accommodation is intended for new students and is normally only available for a stay of one semester (that is every sixteen weeks) at a cost of £96 per week. Students wishing to continue their stay in HIBT accommodation for further semesters will be able to providing there is space in halls after the new students have been allocated their rooms.

Alternatively, they may like to book a room in one of the houses off campus through XS properties, see above. Many students find that after they have settled down and made friends, they prefer to rent their own accommodation close to campus, as this tends to be a more cost effective alternative.

On-Campus - Basic Room in University of Hertfordshire halls of residence on the College Lane Campus. Price per semester: £1550

Off-Campus Accommodation (single rooms in four/five bedroom houses)

The off campus accommodation are 3 story town houses next to the de Havilland Campus (fifteen minutes walk or a five minute free shuttle bus from the College Lane Campus).Each room is equipped with a single bed, wardrobe, desk, and chair. In each house there is one standard size room with an en-suite toilet and shower room (Category A1), one very large room (Category A), and 3 standard size rooms (Category B).

Each house has one bathroom and one further toilet which are shared by the Category A room and the 3 Category B rooms. Students living in these houses are expected to cater for themselves and tidy and clean up. Please note that this accommodation is solely looked after by XS properties. They look after the houses and address any maintenance and repair work, carry out inspections, and monitor student behaviour. The property manager is available 24 hours per day in case of emergencies.

Reserving Accommodation

After you have accepted an Offer to study at HIBT you can ask HIBT to arrange your accommodation. In order to do this you will need to pay £200 rent in advance, plus a £400 caution fee, plus an administration fee of £100. The caution fee is refundable on leaving the accommodation in satisfactory condition. The total to be paid to arrange accommodation is therefore £700. We advise this to be paid as early as possible as accommodation applications will not be processed until payment has been received.

Accommodation fees are charged per semester (every sixteen weeks) and the balance of the accommodation fees must be paid within three weeks of the start of the semester. If you have accepted an Offer to study at HIBT, please fill out the online accommodation form and click submit to send your requests to our accommodation officer. Alternatively, fill out and fax back the accommodation form in the pre-departure guide you will receive once the acceptance of your Offer has been confirmed.

Please note that places in HIBT on campus accommodation and XS properties off campus accommodation are limited and therefore early reservation is recommended to ensure first choice. At certain times of the year we may not be able to offer accommodation to every student. In this case we will assist you in finding accommodation near to the campus.
