The School of Law – Excellent for teaching

The School of Law programmes are accredited by the Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC), the Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX) and The Law Society.

Facilities

With a dedicated campus in the centre of St Albans, the School is host to a range of specialist law facilities, including a simulated courtroom which provides students with a feel for what to expect in real life, and the chance to review their performance in mock trials with the aid of sophisticated video technology; a 24/7 Learning Resources Centre (LRC) featuring a specialist law library, stocked with a wealth of printed and electronic legal practitioner materials, and hi-tech computing suites with online access to legal and commercial databases.

Law in the Community

The School of Law’s St Albans Campus benefits from its proximity to the Crown Court and the city’s legal practices. This proximity enables the School to successfully manage its community partnerships such as the Law Clinic, where students can apply their studies to actual cases with guidance from experienced solicitors.

International Recognition

The LLB (Bachelor of Laws) degree is recognised as satisfying the academic stage of training by many countries including Malaysia, India and Nigeria, and law graduates have returned to these and other countries to practice. International students receive the same individual careers support as home students, and international students gain valuable work experience working as legal advisers in the Law Clinic. It is no surprise that the law graduates are highly regarded by prospective employers and the School of Law has an excellent graduate employment record.
