English Preparatory Programme HIBT offers General English and English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programmes especially designed for those students needing to improve their English language skills before commencing their academic programme. English language programmes can be undertaken at HIBT prior to starting an International Foundation, Diploma or Pre-Masters programme. EAP courses are conducted every semester (starting February, June, and October – the normal HIBT intakes). Students are required to attend classes for up to 20 hours each week for the 11 weeks of a programme. Students are placed in classes according to their English entry level. Each student will be assessed in the first week to reconfirm their English level and to select the class they will be placed in. Students applying with IELTS of 4.0 – 4.5 will normally take one (1) semester to reach the required standard for International Foundation or Pre-Masters levels and two (2) semesters to reach the required standard for Diploma level (1st Year degree). Students applying with IELTS of 5.0 – 5.5 have sufficient English language for the International Foundation and Pre-Masters levels and will normally require one (1) semester of EAP to reach the required English standard for Diploma level (1st Year degree). Students with lower than an IELTS of 4.5 can join our General English Programme. Students must successfully complete their English language programme in order to progress to the academic components of their chosen undergraduate or postgraduate University Pathway. General English

They will take a personal interest in your progress and well-being. The teaching takes place in small groups using modern teaching and learning methods.
