Undergraduate Pathway Programme - Business

Course Description

The HIBT University Pathway Programme in Business prepares students for entry into the 2nd Year (Level 2) at the University of Hertfordshire. On successful completion of the Diploma in Business, students are able to transfer to the 2nd Year in a wide range of undergraduate Business degrees including Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Economics and general Business Administration. The HIBT Pathway ensures that students have the necessary background knowledge to succeed in the undergraduate degree programme of their choice.

Programme structure

International Foundation – Certificate Level (2 Semesters)

Core modules:

Semester 1

  • English for Academic Purpose
(students with 5.5 IELTS or equivalent can gain exemption from this semester)

Semester 2

  • Foundations of Business
  • Statistics
  • Principles of Computing
  • Professional Communication

 

1st Year Degree – Diploma Level (2 Semesters)

Core modules*:

Semester 1

  • Interactive Skills and Development
  • IT for Business
  • Introduction to Business Law
  • Principles of Marketing 1
  • Semester 2
  • Economics
  • Business Quantification
You will then choose electives to suit your degree specialisation in either:
  • Accounting Techniques
  • Principles of Marketing 2
  • Human Resource Management
  • Characteristics of Travel and Tourism

2nd Year Entry @ UH

Fees

International Foundation, one (1) semester (minimum IELTS 5.5 entry): £ 4,200

International Foundation, two (2) semesters: £ 6,200

Diploma Level, two (2) semesters: £ 7,200

Start Dates

International Foundation in Business and Diploma (1st Year Degree) in Business programmes commence each semester at HIBT: February, June and October.

Business School

 

The Business School’s programmes are professionally accredited by The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) and The Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (ICSA). The School environment consists of state-of the-art teaching and learning facilities and is part of the Hatfield Business Park, a four million square commercial development.

 

Lectures

 

Lectures by professional practitioners and keynote speakers provide inspiration, while workshops build practical skills. Open to everyone, the School’s MBA Masterclass series of lectures allow students and business people to mix and have access to the latest expert thinking on a wide variety of business topics whilst the annual ‘Marketing@UH’ event brings together students, academic staff and the business community to share best practice in marketing.
